How to do it
- Standing, hold the bar at collarbone height with a slightly wider-than-shoulder grip.
- Press the bar straight overhead, extending the elbows.
- Lower under control to the collarbones.
Common mistakes
- Over-arching the lower back.
- Pressing the bar forward instead of straight up.

- Brace glutes and core to protect the lower back.
- Tuck the head slightly as the bar passes.
