Wall handstand push-up

  • Advanced
  • Bodyweight

Head lowers between the hands, elbows back

Muscles worked

Primary:
Shoulders
Secondary:
Core, Triceps

How to do it

  1. Kick up to a handstand with your heels on the wall, hands slightly wider than shoulders.
  2. Bend your elbows until your head grazes the floor.
  3. Press back up to full extension.

Common mistakes

  • Over-arching the back on the way down.
  • Attempting it before owning the pike push-up.

Tips

  • Calisthenics' overhead press: nothing builds shoulders faster without weights.
  • Put a cushion under your head while you learn the range.
