Banded push-up

  • Intermediate
  • Resistance band

Body rigid, elbows at 45°

Muscles worked

Primary:
Chest
Secondary:
Shoulders, Triceps

How to do it

  1. Loop the band across your upper back and pin the ends under your hands.
  2. Do the push-up with your body straight and hands slightly wider than your shoulders.
  3. Press to full extension against the band's tension.

Common mistakes

  • Leaving the band slack, which adds nothing.
  • Losing the hip line on the last reps.

Tips

  • The band gets heavier the higher you go: it loads exactly where a push-up is easy.
  • The cheapest way to keep progressing without a weighted vest.

Variations
