How to do it

  1. Standing, take a long step forward.
  2. Lower the rear knee toward the floor by bending both knees.
  3. Push through the front heel to return.

Common mistakes

  • Letting the front knee travel well past the toes.
  • Leaning the torso forward.

Tips

  • Keep the torso upright and gaze forward.
  • Step long enough to descend straight down.
  • If balance is an issue, start with the split squat: your feet stay put.
