How to do it
- Standing, take a long step forward.
- Lower the rear knee toward the floor by bending both knees.
- Push through the front heel to return.
Common mistakes
- Letting the front knee travel well past the toes.
- Leaning the torso forward.
Tips
- Keep the torso upright and gaze forward.
- Step long enough to descend straight down.
- If balance is an issue, start with the split squat: your feet stay put.
