Feet stay put, drop straight down

Muscles worked

Primary:
Quads
Secondary:
Glutes

How to do it

  1. Set one foot in front and one behind, a long step apart, and stay there.
  2. Lower straight down until your back knee almost touches the floor.
  3. Come up. Finish your reps and switch legs.

Common mistakes

  • Stepping between reps — your feet stay put.
  • Leaning your torso.

Tips

  • Staying in place makes it easier than a lunge and less demanding on balance.
  • Put your back foot on a step to make it harder.
