Step up sideways, driving with the box leg

How to do it

  1. Stand side-on to the box and place the near foot on top.
  2. Drive up with that leg until you're standing on the box.
  3. Step down on the same side under control; switch sides at the end.

Common mistakes

  • Leaning your torso toward the box to make it easier.
  • Letting the knee cave inward as you rise.

Tips

  • Works the glute medius, which squats barely touch.
  • Start with a low step and add height once it stops wobbling.
