Arm behind the body, elbow still as you curl

Muscles worked

Primary:
Biceps
Secondary:
Forearms

How to do it

  1. Facing away from a low pulley, hold the handle in one hand and step forward until your arm is behind your body.
  2. Bend your elbow without moving it forward until your hand reaches your shoulder.
  3. Lower under control until your arm is fully straight.

Common mistakes

  • Bringing the elbow forward and losing the stretch.
  • Twisting your torso to help.

Tips

  • With the arm behind the body the biceps works very stretched, a position that favours hypertrophy.
  • Sets of 10-15 with control and a pause at the bottom.
