Band lateral walk
- Basic
- Resistance band
Short steps, feet never together, knees out
Muscles worked
- Primary:
- Glutes
- Secondary:
- Quads
How to do it
- Place the band above your knees and drop into a half squat.
- Take lateral steps keeping tension, without letting your feet meet.
- Cover the prescribed distance, then come back the other way.
Common mistakes
- Standing up as you go and losing the half squat.
- Letting the knees cave inward.
Tips
- The glute medius barely works in squats and lunges: here it does.
- Also works as activation before a leg day.
