Band lateral walk

  • Basic
  • Resistance band

Short steps, feet never together, knees out

Muscles worked

Primary:
Glutes
Secondary:
Quads

How to do it

  1. Place the band above your knees and drop into a half squat.
  2. Take lateral steps keeping tension, without letting your feet meet.
  3. Cover the prescribed distance, then come back the other way.

Common mistakes

  • Standing up as you go and losing the half squat.
  • Letting the knees cave inward.

Tips

  • The glute medius barely works in squats and lunges: here it does.
  • Also works as activation before a leg day.

Variations
