Wide-grip lat pulldown

  • Basic
  • Cable

Bar to the collarbone, chest up

Muscles worked

Primary:
Back
Secondary:
Biceps, Rear delts

How to do it

  1. Grip the bar a little wider than shoulder width, palms facing forward.
  2. Pull to your collarbone with your chest up, elbows travelling down and back.
  3. Return under control until your arms are straight.

Common mistakes

  • Pulling the bar behind your neck.
  • Swinging your torso to help.

Tips

  • An extremely wide grip shortens the range: a hand-width outside the shoulders is enough.
  • Keep a slight lean back, fixed for the whole set.

Variations
