Band straight-arm pulldown

  • Intermediate
  • Resistance band

Straight arms: the movement comes from the lats

Muscles worked

Primary:
Back
Secondary:
Core

How to do it

  1. Anchor the band overhead and grip it with straight arms.
  2. Pull your hands down to your thighs without bending the elbows.
  3. Return slowly, feeling the lat stretch.

Common mistakes

  • Bending the elbows and turning it into a normal pulldown.
  • Leaning the torso forward to reach lower.

Tips

  • Isolates the lat far better than a row, which shares work with the biceps.
  • A step back from the anchor adds tension at the end range.

Variations

The same exercise with different equipment, grip or setup.
