Single-leg box jump

  • Advanced
  • Box or step
  • Unilateral

Soft, stable landing; step down

Muscles worked

Primary:
Quads
Secondary:
Core, Glutes

How to do it

  1. Stand on one leg facing a low box.
  2. Jump off that leg and land on the box with the same foot, knee slightly bent.
  3. Step down and repeat; switch legs at the end of the set.

Common mistakes

  • Using a tall box — control matters here, not height.
  • Letting the knee cave inward on landing.

Tips

  • Fixes left/right imbalances better than almost anything.
  • If the landing is loud, the box is too high.

Variations
